The major challenge for modern government lies in making the most of citizens contributions to achieving a self-sustainable development. What is the key to success?
Voting citizens acknowledge a noticeable trend followed by modern nations – the principle of subsidiarity – that states that matters ought to be handled by the smallest (or the lowest) competent authority. This principle forces political decision making into local and regional self-government within participatory democracy and Switzerland is probably the best-known example in the world.
As the globalisation of world economy takes shape, local and regional governments face new challenging objectives. Namely to keep unemployment levels from rising, to address environmental problems, and to create equal opportunities for all in the modern infrastructures of an information-led society. Such complex problems require an enormous amount of effort.
Our value proposition
The solution is to enhance collaboration with neighbouring governing structures along with private entities. The key lies in finding better collaboration strategies both at local, regional and national level.
groupVision’s meeting facilitation services can assist with both regional and local decision makers in identifying the major strategic objectives and organizational values for this new millennium.
Our in-house workshops can be conducted to forecast trends and find solutions within a joint problem-solving methodology – such as SSM.

Smart cities
Successful city planning is a multidisciplinary enterprise. Urban performance today depends not only on buildings infrastructure but also on the quality of telecommunications, the social infrastructure, landscape and a myriad of other important critical factors.
The need to better communicate achievements is a critical task for local and regional governments. Interactive displays provide innovative forms of outdoor advertising in which rich multimedia content delivers personalized targeted messages to specific locations at specific times. Virtual reality 3D experiences can become a beacon to attract public participation in any public venue or event.
groupVision in collaboration with the Meeting Design Institute offers a range of services to design and deliver interactive social environments in any public venue.
Smart People
The sustainable development of education curricula and teaching methodologies requires cost-effective investments in educational technology.
Smart cities also require smart people. Education plays a crucial role in modern government priorities, and local and regional authorities are no exception. The key to many of the economic problems (unemployment by and large) lies in raising overall skills levels of the population.
Given the shortage of public funds, a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ scenario in education is paramount and EXO U™ provides a unique alternative to support the flipped classroom and ubiquitous learning.
Finally, EON Reality™ virtual 3D learning solutions can become a decisive tool in shaping up a regional education policy. 3D software and augmented reality allow for new teaching methodologies that drive better results.

Galicia has been one of the first regions in Spain to adopt the interactive whiteboard in education. It started with the first purchase of several hundred units in 2007 and has now at least one interactive whiteboard in each of its schools.
groupVision assisted Red.es (Spain’s national procurement agency for ITC) in the deployment of this technology in Galician schools, by offering certified training programs to the whole team of trainers in this region’s Education Authority. Besides this, we supported the creation of an informal user group EDIGA (Encerado Dixital Interactivo Galicia) which was instrumental in establishing peer-to-peer support, training and professional development.
In collaboration with other local entities, this group is actively organizing conferences and seminars that help to establish the best practices in the use of interactive whiteboards in education. Without any doubt, this strategic investment in education in Galicia will reinforce one of this regions’ key competitive advantages for foreign investment, a highly dedicated and skilled workforce.
