Management Innovation eXchange or MIX is my favourite source for inspiration.
Self defined as the spur for a revolution in management, the MIX Manifesto decrees that life in organisations has to be empowering, inventive, inspiring and socially responsible. That is the same motto we follow in groupVision and we look with admiration at the fresh thought and new discoveries from the Grand Prize winners of the Harvard Business Review/McKinsey M-Prize for Management Innovation.
It especially struck me that a company that designs its organisation according to the level of commitment from each individual employee towards their colleagues was awarded the Management Innovator of the Year Award. Morning Star is a tomato processor company and it is a mouth watering experience to confirm their outstanding performance.
MIX sees “management” as a “social technology” that encompasses the methods and tools that we use to organise resources to productive ends. In the case of a company like Morning Star, management consists mainly of group facilitation where a special case of management (within MIX definition) would be the “technology of participation” by means of well designed meetings. This is something we are also proud to develop in groupVision – our own “meeting technology” that we apply internally and in every client project in process consulting: more.
