Schools were reluctant to adopt technology, but now most of them are being equipped to prepare the students for a changing future. They have classrooms with computers, interactive boards and even digital tables. Today's students have in their hands IT equipment with great potential that allows them to search any information they need on the Internet, work together, establish on-line dialogue, create content and do interactive activities. This is driving an even more radical transformation in the way teachers work. The traditional model of education in which students passively receive information from the teacher is becoming obsolete. Teacher-directed methods do not fit with the group collaboration possibilities for these new tools. Now there are ways to ensure that students get the best of themselves and develop their abilities to reach their full potential. In this process, the teacher has to move to a role of mediation and guidance within a student-centered learning experience.
